Tucked away in a peaceful residential area of Kopar Khairne, this 3BHK has been one of our most satisfying interior design projects. Most of the time due to time constraints, it becomes difficult to design every bit of the loose furniture of the house. But this has been one of the very few projects, where every little piece of the house, every door handle till the last key hole was designed and built on site. The clients do tend to get a little anxious, when the design process is extended, but from a designers point of view, it is a very satisfying. Our favourite spot in this residence is the window seat, in the living room. It was the first piece of design that we started the site with, and at no given point was this space without company. From our site discussions to the Carpenters lunch break naps, this window seat has welcomed all.

This little house is an epitome of a chawl house, which is omnipresent in southern part of Mumbai. Hidden in one of the busiest roads of the city, this house was designed as a layover – for times when our client travels from overseas. The brief was simple - to optimally accommodate friends or family, or at times, both sharing the same space. Thus, designing for privacy was a challenging aspect in this tight space. Dividing the space in multiple rooms was a necessity and thus the one room kitchen apartment was converted into a 1BHK. To allow maximum penetration of light and ventilation, Jaalis, and curtains were used to create a temporary partition and allow flexibility. Along with upcycled old wooden furniture, a lot of Islamic elements and kufi calligraphy have been used in the  décor to retain the feel of a Bori (Dawoodi Bohra) house.

Sitting at the iconic Metro crossroads in Mumbai, this apartment building offers breathtaking views of the crimson sun setting over the Queen's necklace. And that is exactly the moment we wanted to frame in the window seat of the living room of this lovely two bedroom apartment on the 12th Floor.

This apartment came with the blessing of daylight adorning its walls from three of its major sides. Hence keeping the colour scheme with white as the base colour helped us to reflect that light and make the rooms appear a lot more spacious. This 2BHK apartment was to be occupied by a family of 6 and for that reason every little corner of the floor space was to be used wisely to create adequate living and storage space for all, and at the same time keep our design philosophy intact.

Hidden storage spaces, clutter free interiors, minimal design that interplays with hues of green , blue and coral and fluted textures juxtaposed with the beautiful play of light became the highlight of this residence.
